We ran the function before we sold the software.
Most automation firms are software people who learned the business. Buildology is the other way round.
Buildology was founded by Josh Peoples in Greenville, South Carolina. Before it was a company, it was two years spent inside a construction business as its fractional sales executive and CFO — closing the months, owning the cost codes, and answering for the margin report.
That is an unusual place to start a software company, and it is the whole point. The reason so many integrations produce confident, wrong numbers is that the person building them has never had to defend a job cost report to an owner. We have.

What that engagement looked like
The work started as finance and turned into software. There was a bottleneck in the sales process, nothing on the market fixed it, so we built the thing that did — quoting, selling and CRM, joined up.
“On such occasion when Josh noticed a bottleneck in our sales process, he created software, which was at the time nonexistent in the market, to streamline the Company’s selling, quoting, and CRM.”
“Josh helped Russo Builds bring in more revenue, with less effort, and higher profit margins.”
Why the combination matters
A dashboard is only as good as the judgement behind what it measures. Plenty of firms can move data between two systems. Far fewer can tell you whether the resulting margin number is actually right, because that requires knowing how the books work — retainage, accruals, work in progress, committed cost.
So Buildology does both. We still do the bookkeeping, controller work and fractional executive support. That is not a side business; it is what keeps the software honest.
Who we work with
Mostly owner-led businesses between roughly five and fifty people — big enough that the systems have stopped talking to each other, small enough that nobody has time to fix it. Construction is where we have the deepest experience, but the pattern travels: scattered data, a tool for every job, and nobody owning the joins between them.
We are based in Greenville and work with businesses across the Upstate and well beyond it. Most of the work happens wherever your systems live, which is to say the internet.
How to start
A free automation audit. Thirty minutes, we map what you run and where the time goes, and you get the findings in writing whether or not you hire us. If the honest answer is that there is not much worth automating, we will say so.
Talk to a person
Call and you will get Josh, not a queue. If it is easier to write, the form goes to the same place.
