Less re-typing. Faster answers.
Your software should talk to itself. Most businesses already pay for good tools — they just don’t connect, so someone re-types the same job into three systems and nobody can answer a simple question without opening four tabs. We connect what you have, then build what’s missing.
Connect the tools you already pay for
Pick a platform to see what changes when it stops being an island.
Without automation
- Job costs live in one system and the books live in another
- Someone re-keys every estimate and cost item by hand
- Margin is a guess until the job closes out
- Schedules and change orders sit apart from the financials
With Buildology
- Jobs, costs and documents sync automatically
- Estimates push straight through — no double entry
- Live margin per job, not a post-mortem
- Change orders reach the books the day they’re signed
Without automation
- The P&L is accurate but three weeks stale
- Job costing lives in a spreadsheet nobody trusts
- Cash-flow questions take a day to answer
- Month-end close is a manual scramble
With Buildology
- Accounting data pulled and turned into live KPIs
- Job costing reconciled against the books continuously
- A rolling cash-flow forecast that updates itself
- A close checklist driven by the system, not memory
Without automation
- Calls happen, then vanish — no record against the customer
- Leads get lost between the phone system and the CRM
- No idea which marketing actually drove the call
- Follow-up depends on someone remembering
With Buildology
- Every call logged against the right customer and job
- Inbound calls create or update the lead automatically
- Call volume and outcomes tracked back to source
- Follow-up tasks that fire on their own
Without automation
- “Our software doesn’t integrate with anything” — usually untrue
- Data moves between systems by export, email and re-typing
- Every new tool becomes another island
- Nobody owns the joins between systems
With Buildology
- Most platforms have an API — we check before assuming
- No API? A scheduled export, webhook or file drop still works
- New tools plug into the same pattern, not a new project
- One owner for the joins, monitored and maintained
Systems we’ve built against include JobTread, Buildertrend and QuickBooks Online — but the pattern is the same everywhere. The question is never “have you used my software?” It’s “what does your data need to do?”
Three ways this usually starts
Most engagements begin with one of these, then widen once the data is moving.
QuickBooks Integration →
Connect QuickBooks to the systems you already run, with the cost-code mapping done properly.
Business Process Automation →
Remove the places where a person is acting as a bridge between two pieces of software.
Custom Dashboards →
Role-scoped KPI dashboards, fed automatically, current enough to act on.
Answers on a screen, not in a spreadsheet
Once the data flows, it can be shown. We build dashboards for the people who actually have to make the call — each one scoped to a single role.

We don’t just recommend this. We run on it.
Plenty of firms will sell you an integration. Fewer have shipped and maintained production software of their own.
Deck Ops and NsightBuilder are in production with real users — not prototypes, not slideware. Built, shipped and maintained in-house.
Our own clients log in to dashboards we built, fed by automations we run. The thing we sell is the thing we use.
We do bookkeeping, controller work and fractional executive support. We know what the numbers mean — not just how to move them.
Where this came from
Before Buildology sold software, it ran the function. Two years embedded at a Greenville contractor as fractional sales executive and CFO — building the tools from inside the business, not pitching them from outside it.
“Josh helped Russo Builds bring in more revenue, with less effort, and higher profit margins.”
“On such occasion when Josh noticed a bottleneck in our sales process, he created software, which was at the time nonexistent in the market, to streamline the Company’s selling, quoting, and CRM.”
You’re letting us near your books.
That deserves a straight answer before you ask. Here’s how it works.
Read-only wherever possible
Most automations only need to read. We ask for write access only where the workflow genuinely requires it, and we tell you which.
Your accounts, your ownership
Integrations run under your own accounts and API keys. Nothing is locked to us, and access is revocable by you at any moment.
Your data stays yours
We don’t resell it, train on it, or move it anywhere you haven’t agreed to. It is used to run your automations and nothing else.
Documented, and yours to keep
You get the documentation and the code. If we part ways, another developer can pick it up — no hostage situation.
Put a number on the re-typing
Double entry is invisible on a P&L. It shows up as headcount you needed anyway, and decisions made a week late. Move the sliders to see roughly what it’s costing you.
This is a back-of-envelope estimate, not a quote — but it’s usually the conversation that starts things. In an audit we measure the real number against your actual workflows.
Assumes 52 weeks and that automation removes the manual entry rather than reducing headcount — most clients redeploy the time into work that actually grows the business.
We ship products, not just advice
The fastest way to judge a software partner is to look at what they’ve already put into production. Here’s ours.
Deck Ops
Professional Deck Estimation Software
A complete estimating platform for deck builders — CAD drawings, material takeoffs, customer management and automated invoicing. Built from the ground up, running in production today.
NsightBuilder
Financial Intelligence for Construction
Connects securely to QuickBooks Online, pulls P&L data, and turns it into structured KPIs, growth metrics and profitability diagnostics for owners and their advisors.
Your Product
Custom Builds
The same team, pointed at your problem. If the tool you need doesn’t exist yet, we design, build, ship and maintain it — web, mobile or internal.
We learned this in construction. It travels.
Construction is an unusually hard proving ground — scattered field data, thin margins, and a dozen systems that were never designed to speak to one another. Solve it there and the same patterns work anywhere.
1. Audit
We map what you run, where data gets re-typed, and which questions currently take too long to answer. You get the map whether or not you hire us.
2. Connect
Integrate the systems already in place. This is usually the fastest return — no migration, no retraining, no rip-and-replace.
3. Build
Where nothing off-the-shelf fits, we build it. Scoped tightly, shipped in stages, yours to keep.
4. Operate
Automations need an owner. We monitor, maintain and extend them as the business changes.
The things people actually ask
Do you only work with construction companies?
No. Construction is where we cut our teeth, and it’s a genuinely hard proving ground — scattered field data, thin margins, and a dozen systems that were never designed to talk to each other.
But the work is the same anywhere: get data out of one system, make it make sense, put it where someone can act on it. We’ve applied it well outside the trades.
What if my software doesn’t have an API?
It usually does — vendors often don’t advertise it. We check before assuming.
And when there genuinely isn’t one, there are still routes: a scheduled export, a webhook, a monitored file drop, or a database connection. “No API” rarely means “no automation.”
Do I have to replace the systems I already use?
Almost never, and we’d usually advise against it. Migrations are expensive, disruptive, and your team already knows the current tools.
Connecting what you have is faster, cheaper and less risky than replacing it. We only recommend replacing something when it’s genuinely holding you back.
How long does this take?
The audit is a single session. A first integration is typically weeks, not months — we ship in stages so you get value before the whole thing is finished.
Custom software depends entirely on scope, which is exactly what the audit is for. You’ll get a real estimate, not a range designed to keep the conversation going.
What happens if we stop working together?
You keep everything. The integrations run under your accounts, the code and documentation are yours, and another developer can take it over.
We’d rather earn the next engagement than rely on you being unable to leave.
Is the automation audit really free?
Yes, and you get the written findings whether or not you hire us. We map your systems, identify where time is going, and tell you what’s worth automating first.
If the answer is “not much,” we’ll say so. It’s a poor use of everyone’s time to sell work that isn’t worth doing.
Start with the audit.
A free, 30-minute working session. We map your systems, find where the time is going, and tell you what’s worth automating first — in writing, whether or not you hire us.
